Technical presentations
During the year we will cycle through different relevant subjects and fields from the petroleum industry, such as geological issues, exploration, drilling, IOR/EOR, Challenges on the NCS, improved technology. We invite individual experts from different companies to perform the presentations. These presentations will act as a supplement to the regular courses. It will also aim to provide additional knowledge of the business and adjecent fields giving our attending members a broader and larger base of knowledge.
Most presentations are held at Realfagbygget, University of Bergen, but some are held at HiB or at other locations. This will be announced prior to each event. Food and drinks are served, and the atmosphere is very informal. We encourage our members to participate in forming the schedule by suggesting wanted topics for the technical presentations.
Company presentations
We invite companies both from the service- and the operatorside of the petroleum industry to present themselves through company presentations. We will provide PR prior to event by posters, through website and by member mail. We make all necessary arrangements, and we contrary to what is the leading practise on other institutions - we charge nothing.
With the majority of the most committed students being active student members of the SPE, this is a unique arena for recruiting and for fronting your company. We welcome your approach at spe@uib.no for additional information.

SPE Spring Party
We only host one party each year, and thus we make it a big one. A really big one. It is our aim that this annual event should be a night of celebration for all our student members and friends. The spring party is a major event that all our student members look forward to and which remains a subject for conversations among the attending members for a long time.
Kick-off has been introduced the recent years with great success. Kick-off is in it basic form a company presentation, but the venue and some other things change. The Kick-off is usually held at a place not affiliated with the University and gives a better opportunity for social interaction between members and the company that is presenting itself.
Other events
In addition to the listed, we regularly host a variety of other events for our members. These events include excursions to companies or research facilities, conference participation both domestic and abroad, workshops with other Student Chapters domestic or abroad.
If you wish to invite student members of the SPE Bergen Student Chapter to visit your company or other sites of interest, please approach us using spe@uib.no. We will be happy to make all necessary practical arrangements.
